What do we do?
We
work with clients to achieve measurable behavioural
change.
We realise that this goes far beyond traditional training,
but are equally sure that none of our clients is paying
us just to create fun training that people enjoy. They
want results, which means that we can only work as a
trusted partner, fully engaged with the existing initiatives,
processes and procedures that act as the glue holding
the firm together. We can then take co-responsibility
for agreeing and delivering measurable results.
Consultancy
Some clients talk to us with a very clear view of what
they require. Others do not. When we first work with
a client we often are engaged to undertake focus groups
and needs analysis, or perhaps to take the outcome of
previous surveys and use them to design an intervention
that works. Our scope at this stage is not limited to
training. We have a full understanding of the HR processes
surrounding talent management, and can therefore understand
how our work impinges upon existing systems. This means
that we create interventions that work in the real world,
enhancing the credibility of HR within their own firms.
Coaching
At Pennington Hennessy we utilise a form of coaching
that is part coaching, part mentoring. Because we understand
the way that firms work, we not only use the classic
coaching models – such as GROW – but we
can also make suggestions and explore options that many
managers would not have encountered, and hence be unable
to articulate from their own experiences.
Our coaching follows a structured format, with an agreed
number of sessions – usually an initial 5 –
with a clear outcome and output attached to each session.
In this way a firm can know that they are getting value
for money without needing to breach the confidentiality
between coach and coachee.
This form of coaching has proved particularly effective
in the area of business development, where individual
sessions with partners encourage them to take the actions
set out in their annual business plan. View

Facilitation
When groups of partners or senior executives come together,
there is often a lack of clarity around how the group
would know that it had been a successful day. Classic
examples are strategy or marketing offsites, where all
too often old prejudices are paraded as fresh ideas,
and individual participants only attend because of the
combination of a three-line-whip and a decent dinner
at the end of it.
We work with practice groups or business units right
from the conception through to the delivery of such
periods of reflection, to both ensure that the day is
planned and run well and, perhaps more importantly,
that decisions made are put into action when people
return to their desks. View

Training
We offer 2 forms of training:
- Bespoke, in-house training. When
we believe that we fully understand the client situation
we begin by asking the question "what do we want
people to feel, think and do differently as a result
of this session?". We then design sessions that
allow participants to share what they already know
and explore new ideas.
Sessions vary in lengths from a couple of hours to
a full day or even multiple days, but we always ensure
that no session is longer than required to create
the desired change in behaviour. View

Insights
We often use the Insights® model as a tool for
facilitating change. It is a powerful way of enabling
people to understand how people see them, and offers
easily-implemented pragmatic ways of building stronger
teams, whether with colleagues or clients. You can see
